Visiting the US Next Year!

That’s what our last few years have been like here on Nosy Mitsio: exciting! Challenging! Full of promise, hope, struggles, loss, and gain. In it all we see God at work. He’s maintained us, given us strength and perseverance when we’ve needed it most, and he’s opened our eyes to see…

Shipwrecked!

PHOTOS: Living Life on Nosy Mitsio, Dec 2013 – Nov 2014

These are all the photos since we found and purchased our team boat (Dec 2013), finished building and stocking all the homes of our team members, and went to Tana to pick them up in Nov 2014. During that whole time, we continued learning language, building relationships, getting used to life on Nosy Mitsio, and just getting ready for our team’s arrival. 153 photos

Fading Treasures

Over and over again the waves crashed into the boat rocking it back and forth drenching absolutely everything inside: all of our team’s foam mattresses we had just bought, our supply of food, more construction materials, everything!

Three Days at Sea

The storm hit us out of nowhere. One minute it was sunny and cloudy, the next we could barely see 20 feet in front of us as the rain poured down from all directions. The waves rose 10 feet around us and the boat crashed into one wave and then went rushing down the next, all crowded together with no time for us to…

This is one of my all-time favorite photos Ive ever taken in Madagascar, near the village where we worked on the east coast, about a year after we first moved to Madagascar. Looking forward to being back in Madagascar in just a few weeks!

This is one of my all-time favorite photos I've ever taken in Madagascar, near the village where we worked on the east coast, about a year after we first moved to Madagascar. Looking forward to being back in Madagascar in just a few weeks!Leaving the village of Antenina at 6:30am yesterday. This is the river where we'd go to collect our water and bathe every day and wash our clothes. A beautiful place! (The village is off to the right.) ... See MoreSee Less

Today was our last day at YWAM Ozarks. Weve had some great goodbyes (starting last week!) but its sad to leave here. This was a great place and a perfect community for us during our time of sabbatical. They welcomed us so openly and we were able to join in as staff with all the activities and regular schedule here, but we also had time and space for good rest and just to be ourselves. Through it all, God really did what he was speaking to us in prayer before we even considered taking a sabbatical, that we would be restrengthened in the body of Christ. His plans are always better than our plans. Thank you to everyone at YWAM Ozarks (including those who moved on before us) for helping make that happen! Well miss you! (But youre welcome to come visit in Madagascar!)

Now we visit our families for the next couple weeks before heading back to Madagascar

We're enjoying a short trip to St Louis this weekend, visiting some of Lora's family and some friends. We're also looking forward to being with DeSoto Community Church of God tomorrow morning! We'll be sharing a bit during the morning service and enjoying a nice lunch with the church afterwards, so if you're in the area, you should come out! ... See MoreSee Less
